Galena Park Train Derailment

During rail unloading operations, nine empty rail cars were derailed and overturned. Galena Park PD, GPFD, GP Emergency Management and a GPLEPC representative responded. The investigation determined that a switchman failed to properly align all the switches. This resulted in the cars being sent down the wrong track where they collided with a string of loaded cars and derailed.

​All of the overturned cars were empty, and there were no hazardous materials released.
